I bought a cheap pressure washer from B&Q today on impulse:

Pressure washer

And I know what you’re thinking.

“But David, what about that hosepipe ban covering all of Oxford?”

Well, as it turns out, most modern pressure washers don’t need any sort of pressure on the inlet side. So if you happen to have a recently installed 250L water butt, you can use that to run this particular model for the best part of an hour, without any danger of Thames Water kicking your door in and tasering you.

So, is it any good?

Well, so far I haven’t tried the attachments for cleaning cars, just the highest pressure nozzle for patios. And it’s improved various walls, patios and concrete floors as much as is probably possible without some corrosive chemicals to help the process along.

Long story short, for £67, I am impressed. I could certainly use a higher flow rate model for the amount of driveway and patio that I have, but that would be more expensive, bulky to store, and empty the water butt twice as fast.

Possibly an update to come when I point it at the car.
